Are Tamanu has a history going back
hundreds of years. Like all lands in the Cook Islands, the land
Are Tamanu Beach Hotel is built on bears the traditional name 'Are
Tamanu'. The literal translation of Are Tamanu is 'house of the
mahogany tree'.
In keeping with its traditional
name, Are Tamanu hotel's 12 luxury
self-catering and individual bungalows feature Tamanu floors
and Cook Island style thatched roofs. Tamanu is also used in the
carvings in each room and the stunning
poolside bar.

capital of the Cook Islands. The Aitutaki lagoon is without a

coconut palms.

Getting Here
A short plane ride
from Rarotonga with the domestic airline Air Rarotonga
will bring you to our friendly island, where you will be welcomed
with typical Aitutaki hospitality, a flower 'ei' (necklace) and
genuine smile. Air Rarotonga operates regular
Saab 340 flights six days a week.

Cafe Tupuna: Open 7 days for
light teas, snacks, lunch and dinner. Located in the centre of the
island, relaxed good food.
Ralphies Bar & Grill: Open 7 days
for lunch and dinner. This established eatery is located mere
minutes from the hotel. Friday night is Island Buffet with
traditional dancing, then nightclubbing activities until the early
hours. Free pickup service is available.
Crusher Bar: Open 7 nights. Dine,
dance or enjoy a drink. Thursday night Island Buffet with
traditional dancing. A local favorite. Free pickup service.
Samade Bar: Open 7 days for
drinks and snacks. Wonderful location on the lagoon-side, offers
water sport rentals. Island style Umukai (feast) every Sunday
afternoon.
Tauono's Garden Cafe: Open 6
days, Monday to Saturday. Situated immediately adjacent to the
hotel. Offers light teas with homemade cakes, lunch, snacks and
